Now with over 360 employees and operating from 8 UK offices, Brown Shipley who are part of the Quintet group, has provided customers with a variety of private banking and wealth management services for over 200 years.

The Challenge

Brown Shipley is in scope of the UK financial services operational resilience regulation that becomes enforceable from March 2022.

Having embarked on the journey to implement operational resilience, Brown Shipley recognised the value of having a skilled, experienced, and independent party assess the status of the programme.   Given the new and evolving nature of operational resilience, they wanted to ensure they were further aligned to leading practice. 

Furthermore, they understood that scenario testing is a fundamental component of a robust operational resilience framework. Assistance was required to implement a fit-for-purpose scenario testing methodology that would ensure rigorous testing was performed to understand if Brown Shipley could recover within impact tolerances. 

The Solution

Our Operational Resilience subject matter experts knew what needed to be done! To start with, we provided an initial independent review of the programme.  Following that review, we assisted with the preparation of a scenario testing methodology.  This involved defining an approach for capturing a scenario testing library and planning, executing and reporting effective scenario tests.
